About Us

Dark Iron Interior Design is a Roswell-based studio specializing in residential and commercial interiors that prioritize structure, materiality, and longevity. We distinguish ourselves by focusing on the architectural foundations of a space—walls, ceilings, millwork, and natural light—before introducing furniture or finishes. Our work is best described as quiet and deliberate. We do not chase trends; we seek clarity. Owner and principal designer Heather Stevenson founded the studio to offer an alternative to the fast-paced, formulaic design often seen today. Here, every decision is considered, and every material is chosen with intention.

Our approach is rooted in the belief that a successful interior is not defined by how many objects it contains, but by how it makes you feel when you are inside it. We begin each project by listening. Whether we are working with a historic Roswell home or a newly constructed commercial space, we take time to understand how the room needs to function, how the light moves through it, and which original details deserve to be preserved. Heather personally leads every site visit and client meeting, ensuring that the conversation remains consistent from the first sketch to the final walkthrough.

We offer a full range of design services, but our expertise lies in the heavy lifting—the elements that become permanent parts of your home or business. This includes custom millwork design, spatial reconfiguration, finish selection, and full-room compositions. While we collaborate closely with architects and contractors, we also serve as the bridge between your vision and the tradespeople who bring it to life. We provide detailed drawings, material specifications, and on-site guidance to ensure that nothing is lost in translation. For clients who are not yet ready to renovate, we also offer remote consultations and advisory sessions to help plan for the future.

Though our work is visual, our process is deeply analytical. We measure, we sketch, we test samples under different lighting conditions, and we revise until the balance feels right. Based out of our Turner Road studio, we are proud to serve our neighbors in Roswell and the surrounding North Fulton communities. We remain intentionally independent and owner-operated, not because we wish to stay small, but because we believe that true quality requires direct, personal attention. When you work with Dark Iron, you work with Heather—from the initial phone call to the moment you walk through your finished space.
