Roswell’s source for deliberate, structural interiors

Residential and commercial interior design services in Roswell, GA, led by owner Heather Stevenson.

Our Story

Dark Iron Interior Design began not from a business plan, but from a singular belief held by Heather Stevenson: that the bones of a home should tell a story. While working on small renovation projects in historic Roswell homes, Heather noticed a gap in the market—design that prioritized fleeting trends over architectural integrity. She founded Dark Iron to focus on the weight of materials and the permanence of space.

Today, we operate out of our Turner Road studio, serving neighbors throughout Roswell and the surrounding North Fulton area. We remain intentionally small, allowing Heather to oversee the creative direction of every project personally. We do not mass-produce design; we sculpt it.

Words from Heather

“I started Dark Iron Interior Design because I wanted to work differently. Too often, I saw rooms that looked beautiful in photographs but felt uncomfortable to live in—spaces designed for admiration rather than daily life. I believe interior design should serve the people who occupy it, not the other way around. That means respecting the architecture that already exists, choosing materials that age well, and resisting the pressure to fill every corner with something decorative. Living in Roswell, I am surrounded by homes with real character, and my goal is always to enhance that character rather than cover it up.”

“Every project I take on is a partnership. I am not interested in imposing a signature style or convincing clients to follow a particular trend. I am interested in what they need—how they move through their morning, where they prefer to read in the evening, which rooms feel too closed off or too exposed. My job is to listen carefully and then translate those observations into a space that feels intuitively right. Whether we are meeting in person at your home or working remotely, the process remains the same: thoughtful, unhurried, and deeply personal.”

Four Reasons to Work With Us

Personal Attention from the Owner

Heather Stevenson remains the primary designer on every project. We do not pass your vision off to junior staff. When you work with Dark Iron, you are working directly with the founder from concept to completion.

Focus on Structural Integrity

We look at the room as a whole, not just the accessories. Our background in spatial design allows us to suggest changes that improve how you actually live in the space, rather than simply how it photographs.

Flexible Consultation Options

We understand that busy schedules require flexibility. We offer both in-person consultations at your Roswell residence or business, as well as remote video sessions for preliminary planning and follow-ups.

Local Knowledge

As Roswell residents ourselves, we understand the architectural vernacular of the area. We respect the character of local homes and know which subcontractors and artisans in the community deliver quality craftsmanship.

Our Vision

We envision a future where interior design is recognized as a discipline of problem-solving, not just aesthetics. We want to move away from disposable decor and toward environments that gain character with age.

Locally, we hope to contribute to Roswell’s reputation as a city that values thoughtful design. We aim to build long-term relationships with our clients—often returning years later to work on new rooms as their families grow and their needs evolve.

Who We Work With

The Homeowner Who Respects Architecture

You live in a home with good bones—perhaps a craftsman bungalow or a mid-century ranch. You want to honor the original details while making the space functional for modern life. You are looking for subtlety, not a complete stylistic overhaul.

The Business Owner Seeking Atmosphere

You own a small practice, a boutique, or a professional office in Roswell. You understand that your physical space communicates your values to clients before you say a word. You need an environment that is polished, calm, and professional.

The Renovator Needing Guidance

You are planning a significant renovation—perhaps a kitchen or an addition. You have a contractor lined up, but you need someone to translate your ideas into tangible material selections and layouts. You value expertise over guesswork.
